Harvest 2018 has begun!

Harvest 2018 has begun!

There is a huge feeling of optimism at Forty Hall Vineyard right now.  Our vines are bulging with juicy grapes, thanks to the hard work of our volunteers and some good fortune with the weather throughout 2018.

It's been all hands to the vines for our big pick and friends and family have joined our volunteers to make sure we harvest and transport the grapes quickly before they get too plump and sweet as this will effect the taste of the wine.

A big thank you to our friends at Burton Mccall who kindly donated Fellco snippers this year for cutting the grapes - they really are great quality which has been very important with the amount of grapes we've picked this year!

We've also had great support from our local friends at GP Garden Services who have transported the grapes down to our wine maker Will Davenport in Sussex.

We've already picked 9.5 tonnes and we'll be picking for the next week or so too, so here's to team spirit and good snippers!
